Obituary for Donald “Chee” R. Miller

Donald R. Miller, 88, beloved husband of the late Mary Elizabeth (Cournoyer) Miller passed away Dec. 20, 2018. He was born June 28, 1930 in Sterling, the youngest son of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Fraro) Miller. Mr. Miller was a U. S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 34 years, retiring in 1999. He then worked at Kaman Aerospace for many years. He was a Life Member of the Moosup Volunteer Fire Dept and a former EMT with the American Legion Post 91 Ambulance Corp.
He was everyone’s favorite person. He filled his life with love, humor, and fun. He adored his family, and loved golfing, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Elks, Patchaug Rod and Gun Club, and other social clubs.
He leaves behind his second love Natalie Rettig; a son David Miller and fiancé Kim Groot of Glastonbury; 2 daughters and sons-in-law Laurie and Frank Hamilton of Versailles, and Mary-Beth and William Hall of Moosup; 11 grandchildren and many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by 5 brothers and 6 sisters. Visiting hours are Thursday (12-27-18) from 1-4pm at Dougherty Bros. Funeral Home 595 Norwich Rd. Plainfield. A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm. A military burial will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the Moosup Fire Dept P.O. Box 493, Moosup, CT 06354 or the A. L. Post 91 Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 785, Moosup , CT. 06354.
