Obituary for Edward R. Grab

Edward R. Grab 84, beloved husband of Phyllis (Gelinas) Grab passed away peacefully Jan. 7, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Born April 10, 1934 in Norwich, he was a son of the late Charles and Irene (Seney) Grab and was a lifelong Canterbury resident. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. Mr. Grab was a lifetime member of Operating Engineers Local #478. He was a member of the Canterbury Republican Town Committee, past chairman of the Economic Development Commission. He also had a passion for auto racing and was an owner and fabricator of several race cars that competed at local CT tracks. He enjoyed spending his time growing tomatoes, and restoring vintage vehicles with his son and grandson. He was very proud of all of his son and grandson’s accomplishments in life. Besides his loving wife of 59 years, he leaves a son and his wife Edward J. and Linda Grab of Central Village; a grandson and his wife Charlie and Michelle Grab of Central Village; two brothers Arthur Grab of Canterbury and Robert Grab of Moosup; his loyal and loving dog Oliver, as well as several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday (01-12-19) at 10:00AM in St. John the Apostle Church, Plainfield. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the Canterbury Ambulance, C/O Canterbury Vol. Fire Dept. P.O. Box 293, Canterbury, CT. 06331.
