Obituary for Nancy Lockwood

Saturday afternoon with her family by her side, Nancy Lockwood of Mohunganuck Trail peacefully passed away following a courageous battle with Metastatic breast cancer. As a loving and caring Mother and Nana she will be greatly and sorrowfully missed. She was born in Putnam, CT on May 22, 1950, a daughter of the late Robert and Doris Greene; she grew up living in Brooklyn, CT. During her lifetime Mrs. Lockwood worked in various warehouse production roles but found her true passion in the role of caregiver at Seaside Regional Center formally located in Waterford, CT. In 1995 with their shared love of the beach and sun Nancy and her husband the late James Lockwood retired to Port Charlotte, FL until Mr. Lockwood’s passing in 2005 when Nancy returned home to Voluntown. In her later years Nancy played from day one a prominent role in the lives of all four of her grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She also enjoyed reading, bowling, movies, cooking and especially spending time with her family. Mrs. Lockwood was predeceased by her husband the late James Lockwood (formally of Voluntown). Mrs. Lockwood is survived by her daughter Paula O’Brien, son in-law Richard O’Brien, grandson Aidan O’Brien and grandson Jacob O’Brien of Voluntown CT. Nancy is also survived by her son Daniel Mahon, granddaughter Emily Mahon and grandson James Mahon of Plainfield, CT. Funeral arrangements are private and at Mrs. Lockwood’s wishes at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours, in lieu of flowers please consider a memorial donation to the American Cancer Society in Mrs. Lockwood’s honor. (www.cancer.org) The Dougherty Brothers Funeral Home, 595 Norwich Rd, Plainfield, CT is entrusted with the arrangements. The family of Mrs. Nancy S. Lockwood would like to formally extend its deepest appreciation to the William W. Backus Hospital and its staff, with a special thank you to Anca Mariana Bulgaru, MD.
